MD Helicopters, Inc. (MDHI) today announced the creation of a Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) team that will enhance the company’s bid for the U.S. Army’s Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) program.
With MDHI as the prime contractor, the team includes DynCorp International, Aviation Systems of Northwest Florida and GENCO Infrastructure Solutions (GIS). The team will provide both the aircraft and contractor logistical support and training throughout the life of the program.
MDHI is proposing its MD Explorer light utility helicopter for the U.S. Army’s 352 aircraft LUH program. The proposal will be delivered to the Army on Oct. 20. “MD Helicopters, along with its contractors of choice, presents a strong, viable LUH team supported by the capabilities of a world-class CLS contractor,” said Lynn Titon, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MDHI. “We believe that our MD Explorer is the archetype of the modern technology, performance and the total cost attributes that will comply fully with the Army’s economic goals for all its future Light Utility missions.”
DynCorp International will provide the management and field service maintenance personnel for the Army’s TDA sites and contractor field teams for Army National Guard sites as needed. The company has more than 14,000 employees deployed worldwide. GENCO, of Pittsburgh, PA, is a 107-year old provider of supply chain management services for the Department of Defense and many Fortune 500 companies. GENCO will provide the same services for the LUH program through GIS, it’s wholly owned subsidiary.
Aviation Systems of Northwest Florida, a woman-owned 8(A) certified organization, will build and supply LUH training devices. Most recently, the company provided cockpit procedural trainers for the AH-64D Longbow Apache.
“The Army, through its LUH proposal, posed a significant challenge to the MDHI team. We have responded with best-in-class partners, a compliant solution and incredible costeffectiveness and we couldn’t be more excited about the result,” said Robert Ren, Chief Executive Officer for MDHI.
