The San Diego Fire Department has a second firefighting helicopter in its fleet, as Copter 2 officially went into service Wednesday morning.

The chopper belongs to Kachina Aviation, but the city gets free use of it when there’s increased fire danger.

The helicopter can hold up to 350 gallons of water, and will be available to the city as long as current dry conditions persist.
